Brixel

Blasted Football

Brixel was already experimenting by blowing up his sculptures when he attended Idun Lovén’s Art School. Many years later he had plans to make a square football of leather and challenge several thick-sculled bureaucrats to a football match. Instead, he modelled the football and cast it in bronze, 25 x 25 cm. In a conceptualist action, to demonstrate his hatred of all things square and with the help of nine sticks of dynamite, he blew the football up.
