"Caryatid", Smedjebacken, Örebro, Sweden

The whole area, designed by Brixel, includes a figure, fountain and waterfall which flows over stairs to a lower basin.

"Four women in one. Unity, power and strength. The capacity to uphold and pass on. The original Caryatids hold up the roof of the porch of the Erecththeion in Athens, Greece. According to one interpretation, they symbolize some Greek women in ancient times who, despite harsh external circumstances, refused to let themselves be subdued, proud and self-aware, they ventured to defy those in power and steadfastly passed on their own traditions." An other public commission of "Caryatid", is placed outside Malung Carpenter, Malung, Sweden
